History:

BMW, or Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, is a German automaker known for producing high-quality sports sedans and motorcycles. The company’s headquarters are in Munich. It began as Bayerische Flugzeug-Werke, a manufacturer of aircraft engines, in 1916, but changed its name to Bayerische Motoren Werke in July 1917 and began producing motorcycles in the 1920s. BMW first entered the automobile industry in 1928. The R32 motorcycle from the company set a world speed record that was not broken until 1937.

During WWII, BMW produced the world’s first jet airplane engines, which were used by the Luftwaffe, Germany’s air force. Following the war, the company attempted to enter the small-car market but discovered that it could not compete effectively against Volkswagen’s compact, low-cost vehicles. By 1959, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy, and its executives intended to sell it to Daimler-Benz.

However, BMW emerged from its financial slump that year; German entrepreneur Herbert Quandt acquired a controlling interest in the company, and BMW launched its 700 series, which was quickly followed by the equally successful 1500 model. Around the same time, the company debuted a new line of motorcycles that proved especially popular in the United States.

By the end of the twentieth century, BMW had firmly established itself as a premium automobile brand. BMW purchased the Rover Group in 1994 in an attempt to gain market share as a sport-utility vehicle company but lost approximately $4 billion before selling the Land Rover brand to Ford in 2000. However, BMW saw great success with the relaunch of the British MINI in 2001, and another British brand, Rolls-Royce, joined BMW in 2003. Members of the Quandt family retained a substantial stake in the company.

Are BMW Auto Parts are Costly to Fix/Expensive?

BMW is distinguished by its elegant design, powerful engines, and luxurious features. BMW has a wide range of models to choose from, so there is a BMW car for everyone. BMW vehicles are also known for their excellent performance and expensive.

In short, BMW parts are among the most expensive of any brand. And the more expensive the parts, the older the BMW. BMWs will cost $5,500 to $12,500 more to maintain than the average vehicle. This is due to the fact that BMWs are German automobiles made with specialized materials, parts, and technology.

It’s also noticed that some BMW models will cost more to maintain than others. Every new BMW comes with a factory warranty that covers the basics for a set number of years. Parts purchased with 50 States Auto Parts come with the best-extended car warranty. BMW, like all vehicles, requires routine oil changes, tire rotations, inspections, and other maintenance to keep them running smoothly.

Unless you have a major part failure like engine, transmissions, ABS, etc., you need not worry about major expenses in servicing your BMW. As the parts of BMW are durable you need not worry about expensive repairs and replacements. If your car is out of warranty then you can save your money by opting for used BMW parts with 50 States Auto Parts.

Quality Used BMW Parts:

  • BMW Engines: The dynamic engines under the hood contribute to BMW being one of the best-selling and highly preferred brands in the US. Their engines are known for delivering high performance while maintaining a smooth ride, making them some of the most enjoyable vehicles to drive.

The most common raised issues with BMW engine are with the cooling system often fails due to overheating and oil leakage caused by faulty gaskets. Both of these issues can cause oil leaks, resulting in an overheated engine. Low oil levels, if left unchecked, cause extra wear and tear, which may eventually necessitate engine replacement.

  • Popular Selling BMW Engines:
    • Used 2004 745Li Engine
    • Used X5 Engine
    • M3 Used Engines
    • M5 Used Engine

  • BMW Transmission: BMW transmissions, with the exception of a few select models and years, stand the test of time and provide a smooth drive in every challenging and hard terrain. Most BMWs have a Steptronic automatic transmission that can be switched into a Sport mode that requires manual shifting. Customer feedback on the Steptronic transmission has been extremely positive. They are known, however, for having issues with the mechatronic unit, which is the computer that controls the pressure inside your transmission electronically.

BMWs can also experience common transmission issues, such as low fluid or slipping gears, but with proper care and maintenance, most will last well beyond 100,000 miles. If you need to replace your transmission, you can save money by purchasing a used BMW transmission.

Unfortunately, the cost of repairing these issues is also significantly higher than the national average. If you need to replace the transmission in your car, consider purchasing used BMW transmission parts to save money. The first symptom is usually a rough ride, with bucking and jerking, particularly at higher speeds.
